New Sundress Ideas

This is the inspiration for my new sundress:

Isn't she pretty? This is from a plus size online store OneStopPlus, unfortunately they say they use "plus sized" models...if they do I'd love to be that 'plus' size.

I'm not sure if you can tell by the picture, but what struck me on this dress was the top portion. I love how it has a halter top over a tank top. I'm not exactly sure how it's constructed, but mine will be constructed by attaching the tank top to the waistband, the tank top going all the way around my back. But I'll have the halter portion terminate in the side seam of the dress. I also won't do smocking since first, I don't know how (yes, I can learn) and second I'm using a stretchy knit so there's no need for smocking. Clear as mud? That's okay, I know what I'm talking about LOL.

Well I'm proud to say I'm down another pound! Since cutting gluten out of my diet I have consistently, without fail, lost 1/2 pound every week. Sure that's not much, but over the course of a year that's 26 pounds! If I keep this up, it'll only be a few years before I'm in my proper weight range. I'm just concerned that my body will get into a 'comfy' weight and want to stay there. But so far so good...I'm actually 2 pounds below a comfy weight my body has had for many years.

For the last 12 or so years I've always been 2 pounds above the weight I am now, not generally below it unless I fight pretty hard. My weight would yoyo up from there and drop back down over and over. Now I've seamlessly gotten down 2 pounds below that weight...and I'm hoping that keeps up and I don't become stuck again.

Contemplating

Well the top I mentioned in my previous entry is still not complete. Actually it's even less complete than it was in the previous entry. The top was supposed to be a princess seamed, empire waist tunic. I decided it would be a good idea to have the sleeves, the outer portion of the princess seam and the waist 'block' be all black, then have the inner portions of the tunic a print that is predominantly light in color with splashes of black.

It looked great in my head! I finished it all except for hemming everything. That was a pretty unattractive top I made! It's one of those 'I don't know how to dress, but frighteningly; I do know how to sew' moments. So the tunic is slowly having major surgery and will eventually be all black. Which is a good idea for me since my only other black, casual top has gotten too large on me.

Over the weekend Joann's was having a sale on denim; 50% off! Yep, I jumped on it, bought 2.5 yards, came home, washed it, dried it and made a skirt like the black, back pleat one in my previous post. I'll have to take pictures of it soon and post it.

I'm itching to cut into some floral knit fabric I purchased a while back. I think I've decided to make it into a sun dress - yes it's one of those that looks great in my head. Hopefully it won't become some defunct shirt instead of the cute sundress I envision.

2 new skirts to add to my collection

Here's two skirts I made recently. Unfortunately I don't know what we were thinking, but we only got pictures of the backs.

My first pleats! I couldn't figure out how to do it correctly, I worked on it for over an hour trying to figure it out and I still missed! But I think you can only see it if you look very close - I don't see it in the picture, but I do IRL. Next time I'll look up 'how to pleat' before I pleat : grin :

This skirt came about because of my need for something funky! I realized I didn't have any funky skirts, I'm not sure why that happened. So I had to make one.

I'm currently working on a top, I'm almost done - will probably finish tonight. I'm not sure if I like how it is coming out - it looked great in my head...not as good in the fabric.
